FlipQuiz™ was created to provide educators with a quick way to create gameshow-style boards for test reviews in the classroom. Traditionally, these are created (tediously) using posterboard, chalkboards, or dry-erase markers on an overhead slide. The review questions are usually even written on a separate sheet of paper.

With FlipQuiz™, questions are displayed on-screen and boards are saved for later use. Combined with a well-designed board, students are more likely to be interested and stay engaged with an otherwise disjunct test review process.

60 Second Civics podcasts come to you from the Center for Civics Education. Each day a new podcast is posted about our nation's government, the Constitution, and our history. Along with the daily podcast is a one question quiz about that episode. If the podcast of the day does not correspond to your day's lesson, you also have access to over 1,500 previously recorded podcasts (just scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Show More Episodes). This would be a great starter activity to set the stage for that day's lesson!

Twiddla is one of the better collaborative whiteboards I've encountered. Twiddla not only allows you and students to collaborate on a whiteboard in real time, but you can upload and work on websites, graphics, photos, or worksheets. Once you start a meeting you can invite collaborators with an email or simply handout the meeting number with a QR code. With or without an account, you can take advantage of Twiddla and collaborate with desktops, laptops, or tablets. No downloads or plug-ins are required, the site is totally web based. If you do create a free trial membership you can request a free educators account by emailing the site from your school email account.

Sign up for a free account and then build your own multiple choice quiz or survey. When done, start the quiz. Students sign in using the the code provided. They can use laptops, ipads, ipods or even their cell phones. Then they compete against the class to see how many they can get right. Kahoot automatically shows the scores and rankings of the class. At the end, you can download student scores as a formative assessment. Try it! It's easy....
eduClipper is a visual bookmarking tool. You can use the eduClipper bookmarklet to
add "clips" (bookmarks) to your eduClipper boards. But eduClipper is much more
than a visual bookmarking service. You can add PowerPoint, PDF, and image files
to your boards. You can also add links to videos to your boards. You can play
the videos without leaving your eduClipper board. You can also add Google Drive files to any of your boards.

You can create class boards to share with your students and they can share
boards with you. As a teacher you can create classes in your eduClipper account.
When you create a class you will be given an access code that your students can
use to join your class. Alternatively, you can directly add students to your
class boards through your eduClipper account. As the teacher you have complete
control over the content that is shared and the comments written on each board.

eduClipper is also available as an app in the iTunes store.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7581577770418728820.post-7171959544839596792014-03-28T11:31:00.000-05:002014-03-28T11:31:04.968-05:00eBooks, audiobooks, and more from Bedford Libraries

Do you feel like you or your students seem to use the same words over and over in your writings? Check out WordCounter to find out if it's true! Copy and paste your writing in the WordCounter, and it will generate a list of your most frequently used words, and how many times you've used each word. Maybe you are over using certain words.....is everything a "conflict" or are all things "beautiful"? Use WordCounter to help you make your writing less redundant!
Remind 101 has been busy to start 2014. Earlier this month they introduced the option to download your message history as a PDF. This week they introduced the option to send text messages to subgroups of students and parents. Previously you could only send messages to your entire class list. Now you can send text messages to a group as small as three students and parents. When you use this new feature that Remind 101 calls "send a few" you still have all of the protections of Remind 101's system that hides your real phone number from students and hides your students' phone numbers from you.

iCell is a free app in the iTunes store. It gives students a great 3-D visual of plant, animal, and bacteria cells. Click on an organelle and the app zooms in, giving you not only an up close view, but also a definition of the organelle. The definitions come in three reading levels: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. Only have one iPad/iPod/iPhone? Not to worry, you can show it under your document camera for a large group discussion.
Requires iOs 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14195513972366578813noreply@blogger.com1
